Stage 1 required demolishion of the existing Lighting, and replaceing with new lighting. New toilets and some mezzanine areas were constructed in this stage with New Lighting, gpo’s, data, and AV.
We removed all the existing High Bays and flourecents that were there, and removed the redundant circuits. All the existing GPO’s, MSB and DB’s remained for use as normal at the end of stage 1.
We roughed in most of the new light circuits, GPO circuits, much of the CAT6A Data cables, as well as AV cables. We installed 2 parallel runs of 600mm cable ladder down the centre of the shed on the trusses.
We installed 3 parallel runs of Cold Cathode lighting down the entire length of the tray, fitted new internal wall lights, external wall lights and lighting in toilets and offices.
We installed a colour Kinetics LED Lighting system on a newly constructed catinery structure in the fourcourt of the Shed. This system is controlled with an Apple Mac and VSM Pro controller. This can be programmed to carry our various state of the art lighting shows, as well as speakers in the columns. Cabling is via an elaborate cable pit system installed in the fourcourt.
We installed on the North facing side of the new shed roof a 12kw Solar Panel array. It consisted of a 120 panels in a line stretching from one end to the other. This will be commissioned in Stage 2.
We completed Stage 1 on time, and a number of events including the Beer feast has been held in the partially completed Shed 1. All reports were very positive and everyone held successful stalls.
Stage 2 starts 1 April 2010 and date of completion is the 30 June 2011. The data and AV will be the main focus in this stage as well as installation of the new Padmount substation ans Main Switch Board. The completed shed will be a modern, state of the art venue for functions, and with the new layout done next year, the Taste of Tasmania 2011 will be held on this site.
This was our first major project with Hutchinson builders, and we successfully delivered what was expected at the end of Stage 1, despite the very short time frame assigned to Stage 1.
